Commitment to Refugee Protection
Rwanda has a long-standing commitment to the protection of refugees and asylum seekers and continues to host people seeking international protection from different parts of the world. The Appeal Tribunal forms part of Rwanda’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the legal and institutional framework for refugee protection.
The Tribunal is guided by the principles of independence, impartiality, fairness, confidentiality, professionalism, accessibility and respect for human dignity.
Through the effective determination of appeals, the Tribunal seeks to strengthen confidence in Rwanda’s asylum system, promote consistency and quality in decision-making, and contribute to the development of refugee law and jurisprudence.
